Resumo

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this work is to provide a method to control the flow of an ionized fluid, in order to be a part of a system for emulation of a magnetohydrodynamic power generator.  METHODS: The methodology is based on the mathematical model of an DC-DC converter, according to the necessities of the prototype, to control the linear velocity of a flow. For this, it will be used the software matlab/Simulink, as a way to proof the considered conditions in the project. RESULTS: The obtained results about the applied voltage, energy delivered and fluid flow through the mentioned pump are reliable, once they are compatible with the theory. Some losses, due to friction of the pump and other environmental conditions were also considered. CONCLUSIONS: From the mathematical model developed for the control of the pump, the experimental results were completely consistent, considering all the issues as the environmental parameters. The losses and divergences shown in the final analysis had given a rise to ideas to provide the project more reliable.
